Craig S. Wilcox, PhD

Craig Wilcox has been a teacher, mentor, and faculty member for 25 years. He has directed research programs in new methods for drug discovery, design and synthesis of model receptors, and studies of intermolecular forces relevant to biology. He is Vice-Chair of the University's Conflict of Interest Committee and the standing Entrepreneurial Oversight Subcommittee. These committees are responsible for the management and oversight of potential conflicts of interest involving members of the university community.
Dr. Wilcox served as chairman of the Department of Chemistry at the University of Pittsburgh from 1997-2002. The department includes about 260 graduate students, postdocs, faculty members, and staff members. Thirty scientists have successfully pursued their dissertation work under his direction. He was a recipient (2003) of the University of Pittsburgh Chancellor’s Distinguished Research Award, and is recognized for his creative and influential work in the fields of physical organic chemistry, synthesis, and molecular recognition.
